Patrick J. Sheridan
Patrick J. Sheridan of Cranston passed away peacefully on November 25, 2015 at Golden Crest Nursing Home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Patrick worked at the U.S. Postal Service for 37 years. He is survived by his wife Gloria (Schaffer) Sheridan, whom he was married to for 65 years. He was born on June 21, 1930 to the late Patrick and Martha (Yedloski) Sheridan in Patterson, New Jersey, where he resided until moving to Cranston in 1950 after serving 4 years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his wife, he also leaves behind his children Patricia Whitman and her husband William, Robin Rancourt and her husband George, and Patrick Sheridan III and his wife Veronica. He was the loving brother of Shirley Nyman-Riley of Pennsylvania, Joan Polizzi and Nancy Garrison of New Jersey, and the late Daniel and Michael Sheridan of New Jersey. Besides siblings, he leaves behind 6 grandchildren; Kelly Petrangelo and her husband Nicola, Jennifer Welch and her husband Jason, Kristy Whitman-Geidel and her husband Zachary, Christian Rancourt, Brittany Rancourt, and Kathleen Sheridan. Lastly, he leaves behind 6 great-grandchildren. Patrick was an active member of St. Mark Church where he served as an usher for many years. He also worked closely with the NAACP in the 1960’s where he was instrumental in the hiring of the first African American State Trooper in Rhode Island. Before entering the Navy, he won the Golden Gloves for Amateur Boxing for New Jersey. He was an avid hiker who enjoyed traveling. Calling hours will be held on Monday November 30, 2015 from 4:00-7:00PM in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday December 1, 2015 at 10:00AM in St. Mark Church 9 Garden Ct Cranston. Burial will be held at Highland Memorial Cemetery 1 Rhode Island Avenue Johnston. I met you in the Navy many years ago on the air crafter USS CVL 49 and we had been good friends since then and had many good years as the time went by.Will miss you always Ronnie

So sorry for your loss. I worked at the PO with Pat for years and years till his retirement. He was a good man. it is always hard to loose a loved one especially to sickness.
