Roger Merola, 86, formally of Cranston, died at his home in Coventry after an extended illness. He was born on December 12 in Providence to the late Theresa G. (Dori) and Silvestro Merola. He was a photographer and lithographer and worked for many different agencies including, The Herald Press, WJAR, and the University of Rhode Island. He was a Korean War veteran serving stateside during the war. He had many and varied interests and enjoyed classical and jazz music, woodworking, and automotive repair. He was fortunate to have the company of life-long friends and is survived by his childhood friend and neighbor, Ray Guisti who provided him care and company in his final years. He was the husband of the late, Isabelle (Parr) and is survived by his daughter, Valerie (Merola) Pecchia and son-in-law, Ralph Pecchia, and two grandchildren, Kyla Pecchia of Bristol and Austin Pecchia of Cranston. Visiting hours will be from 10:00-11:00 and will be followed with a funeral service at 11am in The Butterfield Home and Chapel, 500 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston this Thursday. Burial will immediately follow at Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick.

To The Family of Roger: I had the pleasure of knowing Roger when He worked at the University of Rhode Island. I found him to be quite knowledgeable in many areas and a delight to have a discussion with. May he rest in peace.
