Robert J. Stickel
Robert John Stickel 91, of Cranston passed away at Kent County Hospital on November 13, 2016. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Robert and Lena (Fritton) Stickel. Beloved husband of the late Jane Louise (Haley) Stickel. A true love story, the two were married for 59 years. Devoted father of Karen Louise (Stickel) DeBerardis and Kathy Ann Stickel. He will be greatly missed by his treasured grandchildren who knew him as Beba, Erica Lynne, Christopher Michael and his wife Amanda, and Haley Ann DeBerardis. He was also the proud great grandfather to Isabella Jane, who will remember him as Grosspapa. He is also survived by his siblings, Eric Stickel, his wife Olga, and Elenor (Stickel) Dorsey, as well as many nieces and nephews. A Veteran of Word War II, he retired from Rau Fastner in 1990 as their Production Manager. A life-long member of the Narragansett Bay Wheelmen's Association and an avid music enthusiast, playing both the clarinet and violin, he lived for afternoons spent at the beach watching the beautiful sailboats, and loved his Boston Red Sox. In his retirement he enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, and walks around Meshanticut Lake, but took the greatest joy in spending time in his home surrounded by his family and friends. A private funeral service with Military Honors will be held to honor the lifetime of family traditions and love left behind by a true, one of a kind, blue-eyed gentleman. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to RI Veterans Affairs (www.providence.va.gov) and/or the Brain Injury Association of RI (www.biari.org).
So very sorry for the sad loss of your dad/grandfather... The meadow he saw that day was the heavenly gardens leading to your mom and Jesus...
You're all in my thoughts and prayers

Dear Karen and Kathy, Iam so sorry to here about your dad's passing. He certainly was a great man. My dad loved to walk and talk with him around the lake, and of course Millie knew your parents from way back. (Porobaly when we were kids, playing dolls or swimming in your pool. I had the pleasure of calling Mr. Stickel my neighbor for 18 years. Over the years he shared many stories about the history of the neighborhood, his times growing up during the war, or politics. If there was advice I needed about working in the yard or planting, he was the first person I would go to. A very knowledgeable man, and a very great man. I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

My condolences to the Stickel family. A long time ago I remember Bob when he joined the First Providence Troop Boy Scouts where we met at Broad Street school in Washington Park at his age 12. I was his Patrol Leader.

Karen, Kathy, Erica, Haley, Chris, Amanda and Isabella. No words can express how sorry we are. It was an honor and a pleasure to get to know Beba these last 10 years, to be in his company on many wonderful occasions, to be in his presence and to hear and learn from him. You were blessed to have such a wonderful man in your lives. He was such a gentleman and will be greatly missed but never forgotten. You all have another angel watching over you all. He is holding hands with his bride strolling in the heavenly meadow finally without pain or discomfort and at peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
