Joseph E. Dwyer
Dwyer, Joseph E. Sr. 83, husband of the late Margery (Campbell) Dwyer and son of the late John and Mary (McDonald) Dwyer passed away on January 14th, 2017. Joe was an honor graduate of LaSalle Academy, Providence College, and the University of Rhode Island. He was inducted into Delta Epsilon Sigma, a national scholastic honor society. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. His life was filled with a host of gratifying experiences including school principal, assistant school principal, English teacher, Critic teacher, head high school varsity basketball coach at Cranston West, camp counselor, CLCF volunteer, postal clerk, dropout prevention coordinator, job development director, and in-home English tutor. Above all, Joe was a devout Roman Catholic. He is survived by his cherished son, Joseph E. Dwyer, Jr., Esq. and his loving wife Joanne, two precious and adorable twin grandchildren, Chloe and Jack, along with a large, close-knit caring family. He was the dear brother of the late John (Jack) Dwyer. Relatives and friends are invited to attend A Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday January 18th, 2017 at 11:00 am in St. Mark Church, Garden City, Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral mass beginning at 8:30 am in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory to St. Mark Church, 9 Garden Ct., Cranston, RI 02920, would be greatly appreciated.
