Nancy Dow Wollenberg

"Oh what a wonderful life I've had"--Nancy (Gichan) Dow Wollenberg

Nancy left her family and friends here on earth Saturday October 28th after a short battle with cancer. She passed at home peacefully listening to her favorite songs surrounded by her husband and children.

Nancy was kind, thoughtful, genuine, and patient--key traits for a career in sales. You couldn't say no to her. Nancy had many passions outside of her career including cooking, gardening, canning, music, and swimming each morning at the Westerly YMCA.

She was at peace and was excited to see mother, Catherine (Carroll) Lacy, her father Walter Gichan, Step-father Milton Lacy, and sister Mary Jane Madura in Heaven.

She will be missed by her two daughters Shorey and Cassandra, her son-in-law Daryl and grandson Charlie. Nancy leaves behind her husband of 6 years David Wollenberg, Her step daughters Lindsay and husband Chuck, and Kora and husband Drew and their children Hannah, Benjamin, Charlotte, and Jacob.

Nancy has a large family including surviving sisters Barbara, Elizabeth, Martha and cousin Joanie. She was always the favorite aunt among many nieces and nephews. Nancy also leaves behind her former husband and father to her beloved girls, Reginald.
Her family extended beyond blood to include many lifelong friendships, and work friends who became more like family than customers.

Visitation will be held on Friday November 10th from 4:00-7:00pm in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday November 11 at 9:00am in Our Lady of Victory Church 169 Main Street Ashaway. Burial will follow and she will be laid to rest in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery 301 South County Trail Exeter.

In lieu of flowers Nancy asked that donations be made to the Brandon Angell Memorial Fund, an organization she was involved in from its inception over 20 years ago. Donations can be mailed to 4000 South County Trail Charlestown, RI 02813.

Nancy was such a special person, a customer of mine for more years than we liked to count ( we often joked ) . So sweet, we often times had long conversations ( when I should've been doing something else at work ) which I enjoyed immensely. She'll always hold a special place in my heart. My condolences to her family and friends.

Shorey and Cassie you had an incredible mom and role model in life. She is a part of you forever. Hopefully that will help lessen the loss as time goes by.

Missing you like crazy today Nancy! Dad called to let me know how crazy the Cyclone Bomb Storm is at the house & also that he needs to me to order him a "Sock Slider" to help him put his socks on. I bet you would have gotten a kick out of that. Love ya!
