Barbara Harper Obituary

Barbara J. (Harwood)  Harper 75, of Warwick passed away in the grace of God on Thursday May 26, 2022 at Kent Regency surrounded by her family and close friend Lynn Dinucci and cousin Maureen (Harwood) Salzer. She was the loving wife of Thomas E. Harper for 54 years. Born in Providence on January 10, 1947 she was the daughter of the late William and Edna Harwood.  Barbara grew up in Cranston but resided in Warwick for most of her life and lived for many years during the winter months in Juno Beach, Florida. 

Barbara was a graduate of Cranston High School East and Rhode Island College. She furthered her education and received a  Masters Degree in Social Work and Education from Boston University graduating Summa Cum Laude. Barbara was a big part of helping her husband Tom, start and build Yankee Supply Company.  She also was a substitute teacher in Florida for many years along with volunteering her time with numerous organizations.

Besides her husband Tom she is survived by her son Thomas F.  Harper and wife Dawn,  daughter Kristy Ciampanelli and husband Steve as well as seven grandchildren; Thomas, Sophia, Maximus, Nicholas, Brandon, Angelo and Vanessa. In addition,  she is survived by two brothers William Harwood and wife Helen as well as Paul Harwood and wife Barbara. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday June 1, 2022 at 10:00am in St Matthew Church Cranston.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 31, 2022 from 4:00-7:00pm in The Butterfield Capel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston.

  

Barbara had many charities.  In lieu of sending flowers,  please consider a donation in Barbara’s name to Rhode Island Community Food Bank,  St. Edwards Food Bank or  The American Parkinson’s Disease Association.
