David M. Wollenberg Obituary

David Michael Wollenberg of Hopkinton, RI passed away Sunday September 14, 2025, after a long illness.

Born on March 25, 1948 in Hartford, Connecticut, David was the son of Christopher Herbert and Patricia (Dublac) Wollenberg. He grew up active in high school sports and went on to serve three years as an Army Nuclear Maintenance Specialist before beginning a long and dedicated career as a union carpenter. In June of 2011, David married Nancy (Dow) and together they shared their life together in Hopkinton until her passing on October 28, 2017. David had a love for fishing, gardening, and caring for his many house plants. In his younger days, he enjoyed travelling the world. He will be remembered for his wit, his appreciation of flowers, and his love for his family. 

David is survived by his daughters Lindsay Wasilewski (Charles) and their son Colton, and Kora Gilbert (Drew) and their children Hannah, Benjamin, Charlotte, and Jacob. He is also survived by his siblings Susan Hayes (Don), Petrina Kleinschmidt, Robin Wollenberg (Regina), Timothy Wollenberg (Brenda), Kenneth Wollenberg (Yvette), along with sisters-in-law Faye and Sally Wollenberg, as well as many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. David was preceded in death by his mother Patricia Wollenberg, brothers Christopher Wollenberg III, Jonathan Wollenberg, and brother-in-law Michael Kleinschmidt.

A committal service with Military Honors will be held on Friday September 26, 2025 at 11:00am in The Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery Exeter. (Those attending should arrive at 10:30am to gather as a procession)
