Donald L. Burke of Cranston passed away on Thursday February 13, 2020. He had recently celebrated his 90th birthday.
Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late Richard and Ethel (Johnson) Burke and he lived in Cranston most of his life. He was the husband of the late Rosemarie (LaPorte). Father of Leslie Fernandes, Timothy Burke and Allyson Kelly. He had six grandchildren and five great grandchildren and was the loving friend of his cat Cleo.
He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service a job he enjoyed and allowed him to walk everyday, something he continued long after retirement. Previously he had been employed by the Pinkerton Detective Agency.
He was a member of Roger Williams Masonic Lodge and volunteered at the Grand Lodge's Medical Equipment Center in Warwick. He was a "Dad Advisor" of Woodridge Assembly IORG supporting his daughters as well as "Team Dad" for his son's soccer teams for many years.
A sixth generation Rhode Islander he was also very proud of his Swedish heritage. The funeral was private and held in Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Cranston.
