Donald J. Fielding Obituary

Donald Joseph Fielding 84 of Cranston, passed away peacefully at Rhode Island Hospital on Saturday March 2, 2024 after a short illness. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island on August 11, 1939 to the late Donald and Marion (Serror) Fielding. Don is survived by his wife Barbara L. (Britt) Fielding of Cranston, his son and daughter-in-law Donald Clarke Fielding and Marien A. Fielding of Plano, Texas,  grandchildren Donald L. Fielding of Bellevue, Washington, Kyla A. Fielding of Falls Church, Virginia, Gabriella A. Fielding of Plano, Texas, Marinee A. Fielding of Plano, Texas, his brother Ronald J. Fielding of Wichita, Kansas, as well as his niece and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Gail (Fielding) Roberts formerly of  Westerly.

Don was a graduate of Cranston High School (1958). He attended Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia earning degrees in Chemistry and Economics (1962). He was an active member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. After graduation, he settled in Massachusetts working for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company before returning to Rhode Island in 1977 to join AT&T, retiring in 1998.  In his retirement, Don loved time with family & friends, travel, particularly cruising, and vegetable gardening.  He would spend endless hours planning, planting, and working in his gardens and canning and preserving his harvest.  Don will be remembered as a devoted and caring husband, father, grandfather, and a dear and fun-loving friend by all those who were touched by his charm and sense of humor.

Funeral and burial services will be private.
