Donna Kane Obituary

Donna Louise Kane of Cranston, RI passed away Sunday, February 7th at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, CT. She was the daughter of the late John DeCristofaro and Dorothy (Boulais) DeCristofaro. She was the devoted wife to the late Thomas F. Kane, Jr. Donna leaves behind her daughter Meghan (Kane) Washburn and her husband Eric Washburn, son Thomas Kane and his wife Kate Waters-Kane, along with two granddaughters, Abigail and Greta. She is also survived by her brother John DeCristofaro and his wife Kathleen and her sister Lori (DeCristofaro) Lawrence and her husband Kevin.
Donna grew up in Coventry, RI before moving to Cranston as a teenager. She graduated from Cranston High School East in 1965 and received a Bachelors or Arts from Providence College in 1987. Donna began and ended her career as an Administrative Assistant for the RI Department of Health and Human Services (DHS). She took some time off working from the state in the early 1980’s to raise her two children. She then worked for about a decade in the late 1980’s through late 1990’s, as teacher’s aide at St.David’s Preschool in Cranston. Donna returned to work at the DHS in the early 2000’s and retired in 2018. Donna’s role as wife and mother was paramount to her. She loved her family and friends beyond measure and was the happiest when surrounded by her loved ones, sharing a drink, meal, laughter, and conversation. Donna was warm and welcoming and took any opportunity she was given to show her generosity and affection to, not just those she held dearest,, but to anyone..

Donna’s funeral and burial will be private due to Covid restrictions, but a celebration of life will be scheduled later this year. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island 1085 North Main Street Providence, RI 02904 in appreciation of the outstanding care they provided to her husband during his illness.
