Eleine J. Bromley

Eleine Bromley Obituary

Eleine June (RossKam) Bromley 90, originally from Cranston, passed away on November 8, 2023 surrounded by family at Cherry Hill Manor. She was a light to those around her at Cherry Hill and to her family and friends. Her thoughtfulness perpetually transcended the miles by sending a “made with love” hand-made quilt, scarf, pot holder or something personally tailored over the 26 years she resided in Lecanto, Florida in which she lovingly shared with her true love, the late Richard Gates Bromley.

Eleine is survived by her children; Lorraine Bromley-Brown (Cathal), Neil Bromley (Elizabeth) all of Warwick, and Gayle Daniels (Mike) of Lincoln, grandchildren; Aja Amoroso-Sherman (Jason), Jocelyn Bromley, Ashley Daniels, Michael Daniels (Chantell), Amanda Daniels, great-grandchildren Hudson Carvalho and Lyla Sherman. She was the grandmother of the late Jared Bromley.

Eleine had a lifelong love for crafting. An artist with the knitting needle, she made many scarves, pot holders and towels to match your kitchen color scheme, and coveted sweaters. She made a countless number of quilts, including personally tailored ones for each member of her family that will forever be treasured. She loved to sew, volunteering thousands of hours for those in need by making knit beanies for newborn babies for the neighboring hospitals in Florida from her armchair. Manatees brought her so much joy that she paid it forward by producing handmade items to earn proceeds for the Manatee WildLife Preservation. In addition to her boundless creativity, she baked and decorated many cakes. She was a member of the Creative Quilters of Citrus County. In fact, she was always an active member in the community, including stints as a Girl Scout leader and Sunday School Teacher. Eleine graduated High School in 1951 from Cranston High School. Her gift wrapping was unmatched due to her many jobs at the Shepard Outlet and Cherry & Webb. Eliene loved to go duckpin bowling. The endless games of Rummy 500 were accompanied with her famous deviled eggs, a glass of wine and finished off, of course, with some chocolate. Any family gathering had to have cream cheese and green olive sandwiches, chips and onion dip, lobster rolls, and chocolate snapper cookies. She had a love for shepherd’s pie, steak teriyaki and potato candy, which her recipe for has been passed down through the family to adorn holiday tables each year. Her 64 year marriage to her “true love”, the late Richard Gates Bromley, served as the ultimate testament of the family. Their many years spent roving the continental United States, visiting all but one in their RV before retiring to their dream home in Lecanto proved that they could get through anything, even in a small space for time on end, as long as they did it side by side. This was tested over and over again as they took turns taking care of one another through illnesses on and off. Camping trips also brought the family together and provided timeless memories and laughter. Her sense of wholehearted love for the family, sense of humor, beyond attention to detail, and positive outlook on life is reflected in each life she touched.
