Frederick C. "Ted" Dawson Obituary

Frederick C. "Ted" Dawson 80, of Cranston passed away on Saturday October 1, 2022 with his family by his side. Ted was the beloved husband of the late Karen (Bailey) Dawson for 51 years. He was born in Providence, the only child of the late Jack and Charlotte (Cuningham) Dawson. He grew up in Warwick then moved to Cranston, where he resided for over 65 years. 

Ted earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bryant College and then his MBA from the University of Rhode Island. He was the Business Administrator for the Cranston Public School Department for many years. He was a proud member of the United States Air Force Reserve, and he was a member of the 102nd Air Control Squadron. Ted was a lifelong Amateur Radio Operator enthusiast, where he made many friends throughout the years. He enjoyed taking care of his home and gardening. He was an avid listener of Classical and Jazz music and was a collector of many different types of music.
 

Ted is survived by his brother-in-law Kenneth (Roberta) Bailey of Providence and sister-in-law Priscilla Bailey of North Scituate. He leaves behind his niece Susan (Ernie) Messier of Coventry and his nephew Christopher (Heather) Bailey of Providence. He also is survived by two great nephews Dan and Mark Messier and a great niece Ling Bailey.


A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday October 5, 2022 at 10:00am in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. All friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery.
