George T. "Tom" Chabot 78, of West Warwick, peacefully passed away on Tuesday October 18, 2022 with his family by his side. He is survived by his adoring wife of 37 years Darlene V. (Wylie) Chabot. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Tom was the son of the late George and Beatrice (Holland) Chabot.
Tom grew up in Cranston where he attended Cranston High School East. He also attended Bridgton Academy in Maine, then went on to Bryant University. Tom took over the family business for twenty-one years as President of Chabot Electric Inc., (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #99) which was started back in the 40’s by his late father George. Tom then became the Executive Manager of the Rhode Island & Southeast Massachusetts Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association for twenty-nine years and retired in 2014. In his early years, Tom enjoyed playing hockey and spending time at the family’s summer residence on Beach Pond in Exeter, Rhode Island. He and Darlene also enjoyed vacationing in St. Maarten.
Besides his wife Darlene, he is survived by his three sons; Tom and wife Stacey, Peter and wife Jennifer, Eric and wife Kelly, as well as nine grandchildren, Alexandra, Tyler, Brinley, Sydney, Nicholas, Reegan, Lily, Landon, Lucus, and great grandson Decker. Tom is also survived by his sister Rita Lombardo and husband Bill of Charlotte, North Carolina.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday October 25, 2022, at 10:00am in The Immaculate Conception Church 237 Garden Hills Drive Cranston. Burial and reception are private.
