Glenn Swanson Obituary

 

Glenn A. Swanson 57, of Richmond, Rhode Island passed away on July 27, 2021 at the age of fifty seven. Born in Providence on April 24,1964  he was the son of the late Virginia (Nordquist) Swanson and Carl Swanson. Glenn worked as a Senior Mechanical Engineer for General Dynamics Electric Boat for over thirty years. Throughout his career, Glenn oversaw the design, build, and delivery of both SEAWOLF and VIRGINIA class submarines. He was a devoted racing fan both in the stands at a NASCAR race and behind the wheel at Seekonk Speedway. His love for the New England Patriots was so contagious that it became a household event every Sunday. Throughout high school Glenn was also a member of the Cranston East soccer team and continued that love as a CLCF youth soccer coach for many years. He enjoyed spending his free time in Florida or in Virginia on Smith Mountain Lake where you could find him boating and waterskiing with family and friends. He was also an avid trap and target shooter. His greatest love was being a father, brother, son, uncle and friend to many. Glenn was the loving father of Dr. Jennifer Swanson and Christopher Swanson of North Kingstown. In addition, he is survived by his two siblings Gail (Swanson) Boyer originally from Cranston now residing in Frederick Maryland, and David Swanson of Cranston.  Friends are invited to share their memories of Glenn with his family on Tuesday August 3rd from 4:00-7:00pm in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. A funeral Service will be held on Wednesday August 4th at 10:00am in Grace Bible Church (formerly Bethany Lutheran Church) 116 Rolfe Square Cranston. Interment will follow in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery Johnston.
