Harold Alexieff Obituary

Harold Alexieff Obituary

Mr. Harold “Airborne” Alexieff, 57, passed away peacefully on Monday January 27, 2025 in Providence, Rhode Island.

Born on September 1, 1967 in Brooklyn, NY to the late George and Norma Jean (Chelgren) Alexew, Harold had always been known for his charismatic charm. He was the second youngest of eight siblings, all raised in a brownstone in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn where he had many fond memories of them growing up together.

While attending New Utrecht High School, Harold was an accomplished student excelling in both his studies and swimming. He loved to sing, initially developing his passion by singing in the choir with his mother Norma. In his later years, he sang everywhere— in the car, at karaoke, and often to his kids. Upon graduating from high school in 1985, he decided to join the United States Army where he pridefully served his country.

Harold was a proud soldier and veteran of the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division. Our hero served in the military for 20 years, including a tour in Kuwait as a paratrooper during Operation Desert Storm. Throughout his military career and upon retirement, Harold worked various jobs as a lifeguard, security guard, model, and CDL truck driver. He took the opportunity to study Music Education at New York University before moving to Rhode Island in 2003 to be closer with family. Harold was a friendly, outgoing, witty, and personable man with a great sense of humor. Whenever he walked into a room his presence was felt and heard. He was very “old school” and appreciated sharing a nice meal with family/friends, the finer things in life (chocolate), and hand-written cards. Harold was always known to love and care not only about his kids, but also his dogs! He had cared for his best friends Starr, Loverboy, and Penelope until they crossed the rainbow bridge. Harold was very spiritual, often performing reiki on others and eventually became a shaman. “Namaste” was a greeting often used by Harold, meaning “I bow to the divine light in you”. He was a special man, a non-judgmental friend to all. He understood and appreciated the value his cumulative life experiences presented to achieve inner peace, while recognizing each’s own individual journey. Harold accepted and loved who he was, while also loving and accepting those around him for who they are– always.

Harold’s legacy is survived by his children whom he loved dearly, Alexandria Crystal, Harold Matthew, and Orion Miles Alexieff. Harold is also survived by his brothers George, Eric, Christian, Peter, Illya, and Rurik Alexieff, and sister, Amalia Alexieff. He is reverently remembered by his former wife, Berkys Ines Alvarez, and his life-long best friend, Ruben Miranda.

Visitation will begin at 9:00am on Monday April 14, 2025 in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston with a Funeral Service which will be offered at 9:45am. A procession to the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter will follow for Miliary Honors at 11:00am. A Celebration of Life Luncheon will take place at Trattoria Appia in Providence at 1:00pm following the service.

Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers for Harold and the Alexieff Family.
