Herbert Judge Obituary

Herbert E. Judge 95, a lifelong resident of Cranston, Rhode Island, died peacefully on Friday December 11, 2020 at The Cedars in Cranston.  He owned and operated the former Anthony Judge & Sons Nurseries in Cranston until 1984. He then worked for Electric Boat (General Dynamics) until his retirement in 1989. Herbert was born on April 15, 1925 in Cranston. He was the husband of the late Frances C. (Petrarca) Judge. Herbert was the son of the late Anthony Judge Sr. and Mary (Mongone) Judge of Cranston. Herbert was the brother of the late Anthony Jr., Alfred and Richard Judge and Madeline Abjornson.  He leaves two sons, Anthony Judge of Michigan and Herbert Judge and his wife Roberta, of Cranston. He also leaves four beloved grandchildren, Anthony “A.J.” Judge of Michigan, and Luke, Anna, and Daniel Judge of Cranston with whom he shared many memories. Herbert was the long-time companion of Carmela DiFazio of Cranston. He also leaves two cousins and a niece and four nephews. Herbert was a proud World War II veteran. He served his country with the 45th Infantry Division 157th Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army. He was awarded the Purple Heart. Herbert was an automobile enthusiast who built, rebuilt, and repaired automobiles and farm equipment. He was raised on the farm and continued in farming much of his adult life.  He was an avid reader of journals regarding a variety of topics. Herbert was a communicant of Holy Apostle’s Church and the former St. Ann’s Church in Cranston.
