Janis E. Hey Obituary

Janis E. (Fish) Hey 92, of Cranston, passed away at home with her family by her side on March 14, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Norman L. and Edith (Woodbury) Fish, and sister of the late Jeanne Stieber. Janis was a lifelong resident of Cranston, a graduate of Cranston High School Class of 1949 (now known as Cranston East), and a recipient of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Rhode Island in 1953. She spent many years working as a laboratory technologist in medical laboratories until her retirement in the 1980’s. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Donald J. Hey. They were married for 62 years. Janis is survived by her four daughters; Nancy Kellermann (Jeffrey), Barbara Hague (James), Joanne Hey-Kenyon, and Susan Byrne (Patrick), eight grandsons; Ryan (Beth) and Andrew (Kelly) Kellermann, Michael (Melissa McHugh) and Matthew (Mya Martin) Hague, Christopher and David Kenyon, Jonathan (Sarah) and Daniel Byrne; and six great-grandchildren, Madison Hague, Mason and Chase Kellermann, Colby and Shane Kellermann, and Benjamin Byrne. Janis was an avid New England sports fan, and especially enjoyed watching “her” URI Rams basketball team, the Boston Celtics, the New England Patriots, and her favorite team, the Boston Red Sox. She also spent many hours reading, and her family would joke with her saying she has read every book in the library. But more than anything, Janis loved spending time with her family. She will be so missed by all. A private funeral service and burial will take place in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery North Kingstown.
