Jimmie L. McFarland Obituary

On Wednesday May 22, 2024 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, Mr. Jimmie Lee McFarland went home to be with the Lord.

He was born in Providence, Rhode Island on January 4, 1981 to Ms. Bonnie McFarland. He graduated from Cranston East High School. Jimmie loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the Beacon Avenue Church of God. On July 23, 2021 he married the love of his life Angelica Morrobel. They grew stronger together. He believed in her, loved her unconditionally, and supported her in every way. He often reminded her “You put too much effort into worrying about other people.” Jimmie was a devoted, nurturing father who was committed to his children’s education and success. He pushed them and encouraged them to strive for more. He constantly said, “You can do it. Don’t quit.” He had an inseparable bond with his mother. She recalls a time when she had surgery, and he insisted that she come to his house to recover. He told her, “I want to take care of you the way you have always taken care of me.” Jimmie was a great brother and friend who embraced being a role model, mentor, and encourager. His actions demonstrated that he would not be limited by his disability but would be defined by his abilities, talents, and perseverance. Jimmie was a triumphant warrior, conqueror, and dreamer with lofty ambitions who refused to be defeated by Sickle Cell Anemia. He fulfilled his dream of becoming a homeowner and enjoyed hosting guests, especially while watching sports with his beloved father David.. On January 23, 2023, he saw one of his dreams come true when he and Cousin Markell attended a game at TD Garden Center, where his Lakers, led by LeBron James, defeated the Boston Celtics on their home court. A gifted barber, he took his craft and clients seriously. Something magical occurred when he picked up his barber’s tools at his Scissors Barbershop.

He was preceded in death by his father Jimmie Lee Washington, and his sister, Car’lisa D. McFarland. He leaves fond memories in the hearts of many loved ones including his wife Angelica (Morrobel) McFarland of Cranston, children Jeremiah Morrobel and Lilyana Car’lisa McFarland, parents David and Bonnie McCormick of Cranston, sisters Kesha Washington of Arlington, Texas and Davonna McCormick of Cranston, brothers Jimmie Lee Hampton of Arlington, Texas and David McCormick Jr. of Cranston, his supportive in-laws Frank and Felicia Morrobel, brother-in-law  Frankie Morrobel, two loving grandmothers Mother Helene McCormick and  Angelita Rodriguez, a special “sister” Leticia Lisa Lee of North Providence, and many other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday June 3, 2024 from 9:00-11:00am in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston.  The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am immediately following the visitation. Burial will follow in Pawtuxet Memorial Park Cemetery Warwick. In lieu of flowers, donations to the "Sickle Cell Fund" at giving.lifespan.org/Hasbro/Donate
