On December 17th, 2019 Joel M. Zisserson passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family at HopeHealth Hospice Care in Providence Rhode Island. He was 79 years old. Joel was born on June 12, 1940 in Providence, RI to the late Sidney and Mary (Port) Zisserson. As a lifetime Rhode Island resident, Joel graduated from Cranston High School East in 1959, and attended Bryant University.
Joel is survived by his wife, Frances E. (Marrapese) Zisserson, son Michael J. Zisserson, and daughter Lisa R. (Zisserson) Milson. He also leaves behind his brother Paul Zisserson, and Shayna F. When he was not enriching his family’s life, Joel enjoyed enriching the community as shown by his coaching with Edgewood South Little League, Edgewood Girls Softball League, and the Edgewood Eagles Pee-Wee Football that he lead to a state championship. Joel’s community service continued as a member of the Cranston Mayor’s Traffic Safety Commission, and a member of the Cranston Schools Buildings Committee. In addition, Joel also served our country in the National Guard where he was Honorably Discharged as a Sargent in the 1st Howitzer Battalion in 1965.
