John Ferrara Obituary

John M. Ferrara, 62, of Cranston, Rhode Island died peacefully at home Tuesday May 5th from complications related to diabetes.  He was the long time companion of Carol (Manocchia) Smith of Cranston, Rhode Island. John worked in the Electrical Distribution Industry. He worked his way up from Branch Manager, to Operations and to Regional Manager for numerous Electrical Distributorships throughout Southern New England.  No matter where he worked he was highly respected by all. John was born in Providence Rhode Island to the late Michael Ferrara and the late Martha (Riley) Ferrara.  In addition to his companion Carol, he is survived by two sons, Michael Ferrara of Barrington and John Ferrara of Tiverton; two sisters Terri DeCoste and husband Bill, and Anne Nallen and husband Scott both of Riverside RI.  John was known as “Papa” to his six grandchildren: Daniel, Gianna, Kenny, Annabelle and Julianna all of Johnston and Geneve of Tiverton. In addition he is survived by two nieces and four nephews. John was a man of many talents. He was the neighborhood handyman.  He also loved to work in the garden and was an avid craftsman and fisherman. He attended Phillips Memorial Baptist Church in Cranston.

A Celebration of His Life will be held at a later time due to the restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The family would like to thank The Butterfield Family for their kindness, compassion and concern during this very difficult time.
