John J. "Jack" Gorman Obituary
John "Jack" J. Gorman passed away peacefully in his home on May 28, 2026. John was born and raised in Providence for most of his life until he moved to Cranston in 1986 where he lived out the rest of his life with his family. He was the son of the late Henry C. and Alice G. (Strong) Gorman and brother of the late Henry "Buddy" Gorman and the late Joan F. DeLuca
John was a professional boxer in his early twenties before he married his loving wife Roseanne Rego in 1960. Together they raised six children John J. Gorman Jr., Kathleen R. and Patricia A. Gorman, Elizabetth A. DeSantis, Joseph C. and Jo-Anne Gorman. In addition to his children John leaves grandchildren Joseph M. Gorman, Jarred Gonzelez, Lorena, Letisha, Christopher, Justin, Bianca, Joshua, Dylen and Celena Gorman, Ronald and Mia DeSantis, goddaughter Tia Rose Lowell and several great grandchildren.
John served in the United States Army after the Korean War as well as the Rhode Island National Guard for over eighteen years. He was employed with the Iron Workers Local #37 from 1962 until his retirement in 2004. He was very proud of his work as an Iron Worker and his brotherhood of Steel Workers. John was also a former member and Past Grand Knight of St. Michaels Council Knights of Columbus #4347. John will be best known as the "Mayor of Parkview Boulevard" by everyone in the neighborhood. Everyone loved him and he will be missed by many.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday June 4, 2026 at 10:00am in St. Paul Church 30 Warwick Avenue Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery Cranston where he will be laid to rest with his beloved wife. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00-7:00-pm in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston.
