A graduate of Henderson High School in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Jon received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Virginia in 1992 and his M.S. in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1993. He enjoyed a 25-year career at Dassault Systèmes Simulia Corp. (originally HKS, Inc.) in Johnston. Jon found immense joy as a musician throughout his life: singing in the choir at Calvary Lutheran Church in West Chester, playing classical guitar, performing with friends in college and at Ludwig family reunions, writing and recording several albums of his own songs, and performing with various professional vocal ensembles based in Providence including Ecclesia Consort and Zefiro. He was an active member of the Edgewood Highland Elementary School PTO from 2010 to 2020 and coached his children’s Warwick Firefighter's Soccer Club teams for many years. Jon loved the outdoors and living near the water and spent countless hours hiking, kayaking, camping, and traveling with his family and friends. He faced life every day with gratitude and courage even after his diagnosis with Multiple-System Atrophy in 2020.
