June L. Finan




June Lorraine (Mann) Finan 93, of Cranston, Rhode Island passed away in her sleep on the morning of Sunday June 26, 2022 at Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. Born on May 10, 1929 at Heywood Memorial Hospital in Gardner, Massachusetts, June was the daughter of the late Morton Mann of Winchendon, Massachusetts and the late Mary Agnes (Leamy) Mann of Templeton, Massachusetts, and was the sister of the late Leo Mann and Therese Hinkell. June graduated from Clark University in 1951, where she played on the women’s basketball team and where she met her husband, the late Joseph A. Finan II. They were married on July 3, 1954 in Turners Falls, Massachusetts. Together, they raised four children; Joseph A. Finan III of Cranston, Eileen T. Finan of Lexington, Massachusetts, Mary Lou Finan of Clay, New York, and Michael Finan of Vienna, Virginia.  June was a life-long teacher and student, an astrologer and local radio and TV personality, a lover of nature, and a collector of poems and seashells. Prudence Island was her beloved second home.  Wherever she went, June made friends and brought her wide-ranging curiosity to the people she met and the world around them. Besides her children and sister, June by her five grandchildren; Meg Finan, Nathaniel Kerr, Patrick, Jake Finan, and Danielle Kerr; as well as her great-grandson Fintan Joseph. June’s funeral service will be held on June 292022 at 10:00am in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Riverside Cemetery in Winchendon, Massachusetts.
