Linda Jean (Garland) McDonald of Kingston, RI, passed peacefully on April 29,2025 after a prolonged illness.  She was 78 years old.

Linda took great pride in her career as a NICU nurse at Women & Infants Hospital until her retirement, at which time she easily pivoted to an active retiree, joining The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Rhode Island, and the Narragansett-Cooke-Gaspee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a longtime season ticket holder and devoted URI basketball fan!!!  Linda enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family and friends and doing a “bit” of traveling with her daughter.

Though Linda’s health had been failing for years, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. Her joy for life and indomitable spirit kept her pushing through the pain. She truly believed “Life Is Good”. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like.

Linda is survived by her children, Deborah-Jane Suggs and Justin Suggs and his wife Ann; grandchildren, Marcus and Maya Suggs;  sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane and William Bartholomew and Deborah and Jeff Poulton; nephew Bill Bartholomew and nieces Audrey Poulton Franks, Elizabeth Bartholomew Franceschini, great nephews and niece Samuel, Hadley, Toby and Grayson, as well as her lifelong best friend Sandra Halvorson Weeks and her daughter Kristin. Linda will be deeply missed by her grand dog Nigella-Mae.

Visitation will be held at 10:00am immediately followed by a Celebration of Linda’s life on June 29, 2025 at Mettatuxet Yacht Club in Narragansett, RI. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to support The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at URI.
