Obituary

Lynda Allison Conklin, 67, a lifelong resident of Edgewood passed away on July 1, 2023 in Providence. Lynda was born on December 2, 1955 in Providence to the late Robert H. and Patricia A. Conklin. Lynda was a fun-loving and generous individual who was loved by all who knew her. Lynda had a particular fondness for Dunkin Donut coffee and was known for her delicious homemade bread. Lynda also possessed a talent for knitting and created many beautiful baby afghans for her family and friends. Lynda leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her brother Thomas R. Conklin, sisters Gayle M. Lowe (David) and Kathleen P. Boland (Thomas) nephews Patrick E. Gilbert, Robert J. Conklin, and Patrick M. Boland (Julee), nieces Linda Lapierre (Russell), Wendy Belisle Washington (Hal), Tammy Pace (Edward) and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her nephew Scott H. Conklin and sister-in-law Ghislaine Conklin. Lynda attended May Wescott Elementary School and graduated from Cranston High School West in 1974. For 27 years, Lynda dedicated her career to serving as an employee at Scandinavian Home in Cranston. Her commitment and hard work made a positive impact on the lives of many. Lynda worshiped at Edgewood Congregational Church, where she found solace and community. In her free time, Lynda was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Providence Chapter #1. She enjoyed traveling to various destinations such as Texas, Las Vegas, Quebec, Hawaii, and Sand Pond Maine. Lynda had a playful side and loved visiting the casinos and taking her nephews to the arcade. Lynda had a special connection with animals and adored her dogs Becky and Beauty. She had a unique way of referring to friends and neighbors by their relationship to their pets, showing her love for all creatures great and small. Lynda will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her joyful spirit, generosity, and warm heart will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her. The family would like to thank everyone at Elmhurst Health Center for the care and kindness Lynda received while living there. A Graveside Service to which all are invited to attend will be held on Tuesday July 11, 2023 at 11:00am in the Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery 6365 Post Road North Kingstown, RI 02852.
