Maria Dickerson Obituary

Maria Manuela (Oliveira) Dickerson 68, of  Julian Road in Warwick, passed peacefully at home on Friday April 17th, with her family by her side after a long fight with cancer. She was previously a home health aid worker, at Home Instead Senior Care up until her diagnosis.  She was the daughter of the late Maria Lurdes Oliveira and Silvano Oliveira Melo both formerly of Providence.   She was born in, Sao Miguel, Azores where she then moved to Providence and ultimately Cranston for the last 20 years before becoming sick.  She was the mother of Micheal Anthony Oliveira of Providence, Charlena Marie Dickerson of Warwick, and the late Charles Tazell Dickerson III formerly of Cranston whom she recently lost. Proud grandmother of Cloe Marie Dickerson, Ashlyn Rose Serena, Jacob Peter Oliveira, and Morgan Jean Bourque all of Warwick. She was one of eight children and leaves her siblings: Alda Pereira (the late Denise Pereira) of Providence, Maria Lurdes Oliveira Sousa (Antonia Sousa) of Montreal, Quebec the late Cesinando Melo (Mabilia Melo) of Central Falls, the late Joseph Oliveira (Adelia Oliveira) of Providence, Mary Joseph Oliveira of Providence, Joao Oliveira of Providence, and Joanna Martini of Waterbury Connecticut. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Maria was a devoted Catholic Christian who loved practicing her faith. She loved to dance, listen to music and spend time near the ocean. She donated money and time to many charities. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her children and grandchildren. 

Maria will be laid to rest on Tuesday April 21st in The Gate of Heaven Cemetery. A Memorial Service will announced in future for family and friends. In memory of Marie, please make donations to The Lustgarten Foundation in her name.
