Nancy L. Gachowski

Nancy Leonore Gachowski (née Dennis) 81, passed away on February 6, 2025 in Warwick, Rhode Island. Born on July 15, 1943 in Fall River, Massachusetts, Nancy lived a life marked by deep devotion to her family, enduring friendships, and a love for the simple joys of conversation, companionship, and literature.

Nancy pursued her education at St. Elizabeth's Nursing School in Utica, New York. Her training there led to her lifelong career in the nursing profession. Nancy worked in many different jobs as a nurse from hospitals to doctors’ offices and lastly as a visiting nurse for patients with mental health issues. Family was at the heart of everything Nancy did. She found great joy in gathering around the table for meals filled with laughter and conversation. Whether it was a holiday celebration or an ordinary evening spent talking with loved ones, these moments were among the most treasured parts of her life. Nancy had a wide circle of friends with whom she shared countless dinners, coffee dates, and heartfelt conversations. She knew many people and had an amazing ability to hold onto faces, names, and personal details. She delighted in running into friends and acquaintances when she was out and about. “You’ll never guess who I ran into” she would report later and then relay that person’s life story.  A lifelong animal lover, Nancy shared her home over the years with many dogs who were not just pets but true members of the family. Their companionship brought comfort and delight to her daily life. An avid reader throughout her life, Nancy could always be found with a book in hand. She loved discussing stories with others and often passed along favorite titles to friends and family. Her passion for reading enriched not only her own life but also those around her who benefited from her thoughtful recommendations.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gerald Gachowski and her son Stephen Gachowski. Nancy’s memory lives on through her loving children: daughter Beth Gachowski and husband Steve Grabowski; daughter Kate Turner and husband Chuck; son Daniel Gachowski and wife Jennifer as well as her five cherished grandchildren Elias, Isabel, Mae, Sarah, and Lauren who brought immense joy to her life. Nancy is also remembered by her brother Leo Dennis and wife Edna; nephew Connor Dennis; and niece Haley Dennis. Her extended family was a source of pride and happiness throughout her years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday May 10, 2025 at 10:00am in St. Peter's Church 350 Fair Street in Warwick.
