Philip V. Bucci
October 1, 1933 – April 29, 2024
Philip V. Bucci 90, of Cranston passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on Monday April 29, 2024 following a several year battle with kidney disease. The family would like to acknowledge the nurses at Continuum Hospice and Palliative Care for making his final days as comfortable and pain free as possible.
Funeral services will be strictly private, and donations to Continuum Hospice and Palliative Care in his name are welcome.
Known to all as “Mr. Bucci” he was the loving son of the late James and Louise (O’Donnell) Bucci, and brother to Mary J. Lemlin, Betty Tesoriero (Joseph), William Bucci (Cynthia) and brother in law of Camille Bucci.
He was married to his loving wife of 63 years the late Patricia (Anderson) Bucci and was the father of Philip M. Bucci (Kathy), James V. Bucci (Nancy), Roy D. Bucci (Paula), David J. Bucci (Lisa), Lynn Basile and Kimberly. He was the grandfather of James, Trevor, Anthony, Brett, Craig, Jimmy, Amanda, Camille, Shannon and Ireleigh, a great grandfather to five great granddaughters, and uncle to several nieces and nephews.
He was the beloved father of the late Paul A. Bucci, great grandfather of the late Hayden Bucci, father in law of the late John Basile, brother of the late Ann West, Louise Imbeault, John, Edward, and James Bucci.
Mr. Bucci was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and a Marine Corp veteran. He retired from his managerial position in the United States Postal Service in his late 50’s only to embark on a new career at Brown University where he worked as the gym manager for nearly 20 more years. He reluctantly retired from Brown in his late 70’s to take care of his wife when she developed dementia. He was a beloved little league coach and friend to all, and unselfishly spent countless hours with his children and the neighborhood children playing sports and mentoring them on the importance of doing the right thing.
After much debate his children have agreed to forgive him for being a Yankee fan. His words of wisdom will be sorely missed.
