Raymond Schiapo, 74 of Cranston, died peacefully at the home of his companion on November 5, 2025 after a two-year battle with kidney cancer. Ray worked for his father's construction company, Schiapo Construction and later became a licensed Master Plumber in Rhode Island and Florida until he retired in 2023.
Ray was the companion of Sheron Rizzo of Cranston for the past seven years and the husband of the late RoseMary (Fratanuono) Schiapo. Born on December 25, 1950 in Cranston, he was the son of the late Bambino "Benny" and MaryRose (Cole) Schiapo. Ray and his late wife lived in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for thirty-five years before returning home to Rhode Island.
Ray served six years in the Rhode Island National Guard during the Vietnam Era and was a graduate of Cranston East High School. He was an avid fisherman who loved fishing with his friends and going out on his brothers' boat in the summertime. He was often found at the Casino with his brother David and his late father on Friday or Saturday nights. Of all the things he loved doing, spending time with his loved ones was always top of the list.
He is survived by his sister Geraldine Rave of Coventry, brother David Schiapo of Warwick three nieces, three nephews as well as many great nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind two beloved dogs and a cat. He was the brother of the late Louis Schiapo.
At the request of the family, services will be private.
