Richard Melidossian Obituary

Richard “Rick” Melidossian 82, of Warwick passed away peacefully on Friday April 17, 2026 surrounded by friends and family.


Richard was born on May 24, 1943 in Augusta, Georgia to Anthony and Sabina Melidossian. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and later earned his technical degree from the New England Institute of Technology where he specialized in HVAC technologies. On November 2, 1974, Richard married the love of his life Marjorie Smith. Richard and Marjorie were married for 49 years and settled in Warwick where they made their home and raised their family. Richard was an avid nature lover and environmentalist who enjoyed fishing, birdwatching, and spoiling his many dogs. He was also a passionate New England Patriots fan.


Richard is survived by his daughter Heather Benik, grandsons Connor Benik and Luke Ambuehl, brother Anthony Melidossian, sister-in-law Joyce Smith, his beloved dog “Ginger Lee” as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.


Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday April 22, 2026 from 4:00-6:00pm in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at https://www.alz.org/ in Richard’s memory. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
