On the morning of Thursday April 2, 2026 Robert J. Wylie 78, passed away at Tockwotton on the Waterfront with his daughter by his side.  He was very fortunate to have such an outstanding care team surrounding him for the last few months of his life. He was known by many as either Bob, Robbie, Robbie Joe, or “Bob with a B”.

He was the husband of the late Patricia Wylie (Arnold) for over 50 years.  He was the son of the late Joseph F. and the late Jane O. (Horton) Wylie.  Before living at Tockwotton, he resided at The Bridge at Cherry Hill and was a resident of Cranston.  He grew up in both Barrington and East Providence and loved to reminisce about his childhood living on Teed Avenue. He worked in maintenance for most of his life, for various property management companies, even once owning his own maintenance company.  He was a jack of all trades, from being part-owner of the Pasta House restaurant in Warren, to being a phlebotomist for East Side Clinical Labs.  His favorite job was transporting the elderly for Jewish Collaborative Services. His accomplishments include building affordable housing in Riverside as President of the Riverside Neighborhood Housing Authority.  He coached many girls’ recreational and travel basketball and softball teams, and loved it when he heard “Hi, Coach!” from any of his former players.

He leaves behind his daughter Corissa Bernier and her husband Jeffrey, of Scituate, RI, two sisters Jeanne Sadler of Coventry, and Susan Doucette and husband John of Ocala, FL.  He also leaves behind his two grandchildren Melanie and Zachary, whom he loved deeply and cheered on feverishly in sports and in life. 

Visitation will be held Thursday April 9, 2026 from 4:00-7:00pm in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston.  His funeral will be on Friday April 10, 2026 at 10:00am in the funeral home.
