Sally J. (Hawkins) Simms 85, passed away with her daughter by her side on Friday May 21, 2021 at Halcyon at West Bay (formally Brookdale West Bay), Warwick. For 51 years she was the beloved wife of the late Thomas W. Simms. Sally grew up in Cranston and was a daughter of the late Adelbert E. and Sarah B. (Drake) Hawkins. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Petronio and her husband, Richard; her granddaughter, Sarah Northup and her husband, John; her great grandsons Oliver and Jakob; two sisters-in-laws, one brother-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Leah R. Brown; and her brothers, Adelbert E., John F. and Bancroft E.Hawkins. Besides being a homemaker, Sally was a former co-owner of Airport Auto Radiator. She was understatedly talented in everything she did whether it was sewing beautiful party and square-dancing dresses, upholstering kitchen chairs, making floral arrangements, bowling for many years with the Coffee An’s or maintaining a stylish wardrobe. No project was too big when Sally and Tom put their minds to it. Renovating future new homes could grow from painting and updating to complete inside demolitions when Sally’s keen sense of design kicked into gear. From a young age, Sally enjoyed having many pets including her beloved horse, Dolly and her dogs, Babette and Dolly.
