Salvatore D’Amico 91, formerly of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Monday December 22, 2025 surrounded by his loving family and reunited in heaven with his beloved wife of 53 years Phyllis (Gifford) who predeceased him two years ago.
Born to the late Salvatore and Josephine (Tagliaferri) D’Amico, “Sal” lived a life rooted in faith, family, and community. He was a devoted father to Salvatore Anthony D’Amico, Jr., John D’Amico and wife Tammy, and Melanie Fiore and husband William. Above all else, he cherished his role as “Papa” to his beloved grandchildren: Delicia, Meghan, Court, Anthony, William, and Thomas, each of whom brought him immeasurable pride and joy.
Salvatore attended Cranston Public Schools and served in the Army during the Korean War. He later attended Johnson & Wales University, before beginning a lifelong career in sales. He ultimately found his professional home in real estate, where he enjoyed a fulfilling 30-year career. He loved reminiscing about his work, the many people he met, and the stories that shaped his journey. It often seemed as though he knew everyone—and everyone knew him.
A deeply faithful man, Salvatore was a dedicated Catholic who took great pride in being an active parish member. His faith guided his life and strengthened his commitment to family, service, and kindness.
Salvatore was known for his warm spirit, hearty laugh, and love of people. He delighted in gathering with family and friends, often singing songs and playing the guitar, filling the room with music, laughter, and love. His passion for Italian traditions, especially sharing pasta and meals together, was central to his identity, and family traditions were always held close to his heart. He was a natural storyteller, always eager to share memories of the past—stories shaped by difficult times, but ultimately defined by family, love, resilience, and happiness. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, connection, and countless cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Salvatore will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Tuesday morning from 9:00-10:00am in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00am. Burial will follow in St Ann Cemetery Cranston.
