Valentino Richard Paolella 81, of Cranston, died at Rhode Island Hospital after an unexpected short-term illness. Valentino was the owner of VIP Auto Supply Inc. which brought him much joy working with his customers and friends from local garages, service stations and car dealerships for over 40 years. Valentino (“Val”) was born in Providence and was the son of the late Nicholas and Rose (Constantino) Paolella, and brother of Janet (Paolella) Nicholas.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 58 years, Patricia (Ruffo) Paolella, sons David and wife Laura (Gegnas) Paolella, Stephen and wife Donna (Zabaneh) Paolella, daughter Kara Paolella, and grandchildren Nathan, Michael, Matthew and Christopher.
Val was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; he loved spending time with family, always cheering on his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed being by the water and spent many years enjoying the ocean breezes in Narragansett. Val was always very active, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and traveling; his favorite trip was a visit to Italy with Pat. When Val was relaxing at home, he was watching his favorite teams (Yankees, Giants and Providence College basketball). Val also enjoyed spending time restoring furniture and antiquing, a passion he had pursued throughout his life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday May 6, 2022 at 9:00am in St. Matthew Church (corner of Park and Elmwood Avenues) Cranston. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery Cranston. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00-7:00pmin The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
