Virginia Grosvenor Obituary

Virginia Grosvenor 101, of Snug Harbor, formerly of Seminole Florida passed away peacefully September 17, 2024 surrounded by her daughters and son-in-law.  She was the wife of the late Donald Grosvenor for 45 wonderful years and the mother of her late son Brian.  Born in Cumberland Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late William and Adamina (Garne) Eatough.

Her creativity and generosity were endless, she loved to play the piano and organ sharing that joy with others, uplifted those around her with heartfelt handwritten cards always filled with love and blessings.  While drinking tea and eating sweets, she was the reigning queen while playing her favorite card game "Kings in The Corner" with family and friends.  She felt her knitted dishcloths were essential, so all her friends were given one, even her doctors.  Her 100th Birthday celebration was a memorable one, having Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra impersonators.

Together with her younger sister Peggy, Virginia was affectionately known as "one of the fish and chips girls" as they spent afternoons working in their mother's "Modern fish and chips store" in Pawtucket, creating fond memories that would last a lifetime. She lived a life of many accomplishments. In September of 1943, Virginia was sworn in the US Navy Reserve where she served faithfully until the end of WWII.  After the war, she returned to New York to attend the school of Dietetics.  Her studies earned her a job as a Dietitian at Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket. At the age of 21, she took a memorable cruise to England with her father where she reconnected with family.

After her husband Don's passing she moved to "Freedom Square" a senior living community in Seminole Florida where she served on the welcoming committee.  She played pool and regularly attended line dancing nights and sang with a small group of other residents.  Her kind spirit made a lasting impression on all who entered the community, as she dedicated herself to helping new residents feel at home. Ginny will be remembered for her kindness, humor and love of family, and her spirit will continue to live on in them.  Her caring and genuine love of God showed through in the subtle ways she gifted those around her, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters Lynn Grosvenor Calvert of Snug Harbor, and Donna (Tony) Loureiro, granddaughter Lindsay (John) White of Virginia, sister Margaret Sykes of Nashua New Hampshire, sister-in-law Elizabeth Heath of Virginia as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins in the UK.

Funeral Services were private at the family's request.  To Honor Virginia's love of animals, in lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated to a local animal shelter/rescue of your choice or to Harmony Hospice RI 931 Jefferson Blvd Suite 3004 Warwick RI 02886.
