William L. "Larry" Condon

William Condon Obituary

William L. “Larry” Condon of Cranston, passed away on June 2, 2021 at Evergreen House Health Center following a short battle with cancer. A public- school administrator for 45 years, he served as principal of Edgewood Highland School, Waterman Elementary, and Edward. S. Rhodes School in Cranston. Larry was a loving husband, for 43 years, to the late Joanne (Gleason) Condon. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of William J. and Margaret (Whatmough) Condon. He leaves three children; Alicia Condon of Cranston, Andrew Condon of Des Moines, Washington, and John Deluca (and wife Amy) of Barrington. He also leaves three grandchildren; Marcus, Jack, and Emily, as well as two great-grandchildren; Leon and Thea. Since becoming the youngest elementary school principal appointed in Rhode Island, Larry touched thousands of lives in the Cranston community. He was known as a loyal and respectful administrator by the teachers and other school personnel who worked with him and as a caring and devoted principal who memorized the name of every student in his school every year. Larry was also a member of several civic and educational organizations and enjoyed playing in several local golf leagues over the past thirty years. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was a graduate of Providence College and Rhode Island College. He was also a communicant of St. Mary Catholic Church in Cranston.
