Yocasta Burgos
Yocasta Burgos Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of Yocasta Burgos, a radiant spirit and beloved mother, daughter, aunt, niece, and friend, who left us far too soon at the age of 50 after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Born in the Dominican Republic to Nercida (Batista) and Ruben Burgos. Yocasta brought color, fire, and flair into the world from the very beginning. Her journey took her from the vibrant streets of her island home to the states of New York, Rhode Island, Georgia, and ultimately, Florida, where she built a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Yocasta was a woman who lived boldly and unapologetically. Sassy, adventurous, and always full of life, she made every room brighter and every moment count. Whether she was crafting something beautiful with her hands, styling herself (and everyone around her) with a creative edge, or dreaming up her next business venture, Yocasta did it all with unmatched style and fierce determination. She was a true entrepreneur; resourceful, inventive, and always thinking two steps ahead.
Her greatest pride and joy was her daughter, whom she raised with strength, humor, and unconditional love. As a mother, she was both a guiding light and a best friend, teaching resilience, independence, and how to face life with sparkle and solidity.
In recent years, Yocasta experienced a profound spiritual renewal that became a cornerstone of her strength. Her love for Jesus was deep and unwavering, and last year, she made the powerful decision to be baptized again, a moment of tremendous growth, healing, and pride in her journey. Her faith carried her through the hardest days with grace, courage, and peace, and she often spoke about the comfort she found in God’s presence. Her relationship with Christ was not only personal but transformative, and it inspired those around her.
To know Yocasta was to know laughter, bold lipstick, and bright nails, spontaneous adventures, and deep, meaningful connections. She had a knack for turning ordinary days into celebrations and strangers into friends. Her spirit was magnetic, and her love was vast.
Yocasta is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tabitha and Riley Bradway, her mother, Nercida Batista de Burgos, her brother, Ruben Burgos, her brother and sister-in-law, Joel Burgos and Vanessa (DaCosta), her sister, Vianella Burgos, four nieces, Mailanni, Julia, Maleiya, and Jaylin Burgos, three nephews, Jonathan, Jackson, and Ruben Burgos, along with countless friends and extended family, who were touched by her vibrant presence. Though we mourn her passing here on Earth, we find peace in knowing that Yocasta has been welcomed into Heaven’s embrace, reunited with her beloved father Ruben, and her grandparents who went before her. We take comfort in knowing she is surrounded by love and light, exactly as she deserves. And although her physical journey has ended, the joy she spread, the strength she embodied, and the memories she created will live on in all of us. In her honor, wear something colorful, laugh loudly, and live your life with the same fearless joy she did. Rest in power, Yocasta. You were one of a kind, and your light will never fade.
Visitation will begin on Friday at 9:00am in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. A Memorial Service will be spoken at 10:00am. A Celebration of Life will be held beginning at 12:00pm at Tomaselli's at Rosario 17 Rosario Drive Providence.
